GY BID

Directly funded by contributions from town centre businesses and funding from the local authority, the Great Yarmouth Business Improvement District (gyBID) has delivered a range of initiatives aimed at making the town centre a safer and more attractive place for people to live, work and visit for the last five years.

The purpose of this website is to outline some of the key areas that gyBID has focussed on, to provide information on what gyBID will be focussing on over the next five years and also to invite feedback on all of the progress made to date.

With the original five-year term of gyBID now over, the Town Centre Partnership has embarked on a second five-year term which will run from April 2011 to March 2016. A successful ballot of local businesses was held during January and February 2011 - the ballot closed with 89% of businesses voting in favour for the continuation of the BID. The number of businesses pledging support was higher than that of the original BID ballot, showing the notable impact the gyBID initiatives have had on Great Yarmouth Town Centre.

The BID will continue to be managed to be managed by the Town Centre Partnership, a not-for-profit company who have been active in managing the town centre since 1997 and took charge of the original gyBID operation from 2006-2011.

The new proposals that are being put forward for the next five years can be seen in the 2011-2016 Business Plan; click here to view the new gyBID Business Plan.
